The introductory part of the GRÓ-FTP six-month training programme traditionally draws to a close with a trip to the north of Iceland and an introduction to fisheries in Akureyri and surrounding areas.
The 2021-22 group of 28 fellows participated in a busy but interesting schedule involving lecture days in the University of Akureyri, fishing industry site visits, field trips and excursions to places of interest in the surrounding area.
On completion of the northern trip join one of four specialist lines, settling into a more intensive study programme at the Marine and Freshwater Research Institute, Matís Icelandic Food and Biotech R&D, Hólar University College and the University of Akureyri.
