UNU-GEST Director and Deputy Minister of Women´s Affair in Palestine discuss future cooperation
The Deputy Minister of the Palestinian Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Mr. Bassam Al-Khatib, met with Dr. Irma Erlingsdottir, the Director of the United Nations University Gender Equality Studies and Training Programme at the University of Iceland, in Ramallah this week to discuss future cooperation.

Tony Bero: Profile of a UNU-GEST Fellow 2015
An interview with Tony Bero, a UNU-GEST fellow from Palestine, was featured in the weekly newsletter of the Icelandic Development Agency, ICEIDA. Tony Bero is 35 years old and comes from Beit Jala city, near Bethlehem in West Bank, Palestine. He works at UNRWA/WBFO, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, which was established in 1949.

The Palistinian feminist and political activist Amany El Gharib from Gaza writes for Forum for women and development (FOCUS) and explores some issues of who can be regarded as a true gender equality champion. She contends that women´s political rights are among the vital rights women should have.

UNU-GEST Participates in CSW59/Beijing+20
Representatives from UNU-GEST will be attending the fifty-ninth session of the Commission on the Status of Women which takes place at United Nations Headquarters in New York from 9 to 20 March 2015. The session will focus on the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, including current challenges that affect its implementation and the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of women.
