The first annual meeting of the Global Alliance of the Regional Women Mediators will be held in a series of meetings, from 8-22 October. About the Global Alliance

The Global Alliance brings together five networks: Arab Women Mediators Network, FemWise-Africa, the Mediterranean Women Mediators Network, the Nordic Women Mediators and the Women Mediators across the Commonwealth as part of a global movement to enhance women’s meaningful participation and influence in peace processes at all levels.

In 2019, these networks came together to form the Global Alliance of Regional Women Mediator Networks, as a global movement demanding policy and decision-makers to hasten the implementation of UNSCR 1325.

GRÓ’s GEST coordinates the Icelandic branch of the Nordic Women Mediators (NWM) in close collaboration with the Icelandic Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The NWM is a network of women from five Nordic countries with professional expertise relevant to conflict mediation, peace-building and negotiations. The professionals share a commitment to sustaining peace through inclusive and meaningful participation of women in all phases of peace processes.
