Protection, Gender and Inclusion Online Seminar

The seminar Protection, Gender and Inclusion will take place on 21 and 22 October 2021 and is hosted in partnership of GRÓ GEST and the Icelandic Red Cross with financial support from the Icelandic Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On 21 October the Seminar consists of a full day Webinar organised in four sessions. First session offers an overview of Iceland’s strategy for International Cooperation and the state of the world regarding the situation of women and children as reported by UN agencies. Second session gathers experts around the area of Protection, specifically specialised protection issues such as Sexual and Gender-based Violence and child marriage. Third session focuses on gender both as an evolving concept and a key area of work.Fourth and last session covers Inclusion, showcasing different experiences about community engagement and disability. The PGI Seminar aims to assemble guests and participants from diverse backgrounds and disciplines to share knowledge and lessons learned around Protection and Safeguarding, Social inclusion and Gender and Diversity, as essential perspectives for a comprehensive approach to emergency response and development work, that provide a range of best practices that should be integrated throughout programming. Furthermore, effective humanitarian and development action is both a goal and means to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
