Update Regarding Covid-19
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the University of Iceland will be closed for the next four weeks. This closure affects the current 2020 GEST programme severely as all teaching now happens online. Nevertheless, we are thankful for the fact that the 2020 cohort had the opportunity to get to know each other and interact in the classroom before the closure, hopefully making the online adjustments smoother. Other immediate changes include international lecturers who have postponed or cancelled their visits to Iceland, and the annual GEST / RIKK public lecture series which has been cancelled until further notice. After a busy last few weeks, as the fellows visited secondary schools and Icelandic institutions, including the supreme court and the parliament, daily operations are now limited to online interaction. Nevertheless, the academic programme continues and yesterday and today, the Icelandic expert Kirstin Flygenring conducted online discussion groups about the formal and informal markets from a gendered perspective, as well as corruption and sextortion, as a part of the module Gender, Labour and Migration.
