It is our great pleasure to announce that a €10,000 grant from the GEST Alumni Fund has been awarded to Chinenye Anekwe, GEST alumnus of 2018. Ms Anekwe is a Development Specialist at Solar Sisters, an NGO that has helped kickstart more than 5.000 women clean energy entrepreneurs and continues to deliver clean energy directly to homes in rural African communities.

It is an honour to announce that Dr. Irma Erlingsdóttir, Director of the Gender Equality Studies and Training programme (GEST) was awarded today by the Rector of the University of Iceland for her outstanding professional contributions to the University of Iceland. The award is for Irma's contributions to equality through her work in establishing the Gender Equality Studies and Training Programme in 2009, and her contribution as the Director of RIKK - Institute for Gender, Equality and Difference, since 2009. Furthermore, Irma is the project leader of the EDDA Research Center on critical contemporary research at the University of Iceland, which focuses on the politics of equality in the humanities and social sciences.

GEST is proud to announce the virtual launch of The Routledge Handbook of the Politics of the #MeToo Movement at 1600/4pm GMT on 3 December 2020. The handbook is edited by GEST staff Dr. Giti Chandra and Dr. Irma Erlingsdóttir.

GEST is proud to share that ‘The Routledge Handbook of the Politics of the #MeToo Movement’, edited by GEST staff Dr. Giti Chandra and Dr. Irma Erlingsdóttir, will be published on 30 November 2020.

The first annual meeting of the Global Alliance of the Regional Women Mediators will be held in a series of meetings, from 8-22 October. For the opening and closing events of the annual meeting, the Global Alliance is inviting its members, partners and the public to reflect and share insights on the future of Women, Peace and Security in mediation.

Today, representatives of the University of Iceland and GRÓ International Centre for Capacity Development, Sustainable Use of Natural Resources and Societal Change, under the auspices of UNESCO, met at the University of Iceland to sign a new host institution agreement detailing the cooperation between GRÓ and the University of Iceland regarding the Gender Equality Studies and Training programme (GRÓ GEST). Jón Karl Ólafsson, Chairman of GRÓ Centre‘s governing board, and Jón Atli Benediktsson, Rector of the University of Iceland, signed the agreement on behalf of the two institutions.
