At the end of May 2014 the programme celebrated the graduation of its 6th cohort of fellows. The goal was to strengthen the fellows’ professional capacities for advancing and implementing gender sensitive projects and policies in their home countries. Attendees were awarded a diploma after the completion of a 20 week intensive studies and training course in international gender studies (30 ECTS).

Description

The overall goal of the programme is to educate and train women and men from developing countries and conflict/post-conflict societies in gender equality methods and theories and to strengthen their professional capacities for advancing and implementing gender sensitive projects in their home countries. The programme‘s curriculum builds upon scholarship in gender equality and development studies, incorporating interdisciplinary approaches, scholarly debates and recent methodological practices. The Programme equips fellows with critical thinking skills as well as the essential and practical tools for gender sensitive analysis and project management. The learning approach is based on transnational perspective, with an emphasis on dialogue and diversity, where fellows and trainers are encouraged to develop a sense for how meanings are transformed when travelling from one culture to another.

The Programme was divided into the following six teaching and training modules:

  1. Introduction: Theories and Concepts
  2. Practical Tools for Gender Sensitive Projects
  3. Gender, Climate Change and the Environment
  4. Gender, Peace and Security
  5. Rights Based Approaches to Health and Bodily Integrity
  6. Final Assignment
