Peter Katuramu works as a Youth Leader Officer for the National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda and is an advocate for gender equality.

Harriet Adong graduated from the UNU-GEST diploma programme in 2017 and is currently working as the Executive Director of the Foundation for Integrated Rural Development in Uganda (FIRD), a community based organization established in 2005 to support survivors of conflict related sexual and gender based violence.

One of the core strategies of UNU-GEST is the multidisciplinary approach adopted to promote gender equality and social well-being through high-quality, collaborative and policy-relevant research. To this end, the UNU-GEST programme is happy to welcome Dr. Jón Ingvar Kjaran and Dr. Thomas Brorsen Smidt to the research team.

UNU-GEST alumni Masha Durkalić is co-authoring the book #ŽeneBiH, which is an artistic, activist and research initiative comprising the biographies of over 50 women from Bosnia Herzegovina who have broken stereotypes and advocated women’s rights and emancipation.

On Thursday, 06th of September, Dr. Giti Chandra opened this terms lecture series organized by RIKK – Institute for Gender, Equality and Difference with her lecture “The Anonymous Feminist: Agency, Trauma, and Personhood in the #MeToo Movement.
