Short Bio
Dr. Thomas Brorsen Smidt is a Project and Research Manager whose responsibilities include coordination of GEST's academic programme and development of its research initiatives in collaboration with international partners. In addition, he works to increase knowledge transmission and dissemination of GEST initiatives through various channels. Along with Senior Researcher Dr. Giti Chandra, he coordinates and develops GEST's online education programme as well as The GEST Podcast. Thomas has been involved with the GEST programme as a lecturer and supervisor since 2010. Prior to joining the programme full time, he worked as a researcher in the cross-national research project GARCIA under the European 7th Framework programme. He holds an MA and a PhD in Gender Studies from the University of Iceland and has published internationally on women’s issues in higher education. He has lectured for more than a decade on sexual politics, gender and education, sexual harassment, masculinity issues, and feminist and queer theory.He is currently coordinator and primary investigator on the projects Transnational MOOCs on gender, development and post-conflict states: Innovating digital gender education through international partnerships and Queer Refugees in Queer Utopias: Inclusions and Exclusions.
