UNU-FTP Fellow Receives Presidential Award

The National Research Council and President Secretariat of Sri Lanka initiated a Presidential awards programme in 2001 to honour the Sri Lankan Scientists who published their research work in international journals indexed by SCI (Science Citation Index). There are two criteria are used to select scientists for this award:

1) A publication in the top 10% of Science Citation Index Expanded journals, ranked on their Impact Factor under each journal category based on SCI categorization of journals

2) Two or more publications in Science Citation Index Expanded journals with an Impact Factor of 1 or more

In this year, awarding ceremony was held on October 31. Former UNU-FTP fellow and doctoral scholarship recipient Chamari Dissanayaki received this award for publishing following two papers based on my PhD which was carried out at the University of Iceland under the supervision of Prof. Gunnar Stefansson and with the financial support of UNU FTP.
