A graduation ceremony for GRÓ Fisheries Training Programme’s 27th cohort of fellows will be held Wednesday 20th of May. The ceremony will take place at the Marine and Freshwater Research Institute, Fornubúðum 5 Hafnarfirði and start at 14:50. Concurrently, a poster exhibition of the final projects of the graduating fellows will be on display at the same location.

14:50 - 15:00 Guests arrive

15:00 - 15:05 Master of Ceremonies, Jónas Páll Jónasson, Head of Demersal Division, MFRI, welcomes the guests

15:05 - 15:15 Daði Már Kristófersson, Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, addresses the guests

15:15 - 15:20 Nína Björk Jónsdóttir, Director-General of the GRÓ Centre, addresses the guests

15:20 - 15:50 Presentation of certificates

Mr. Þór Heiðar Ásgeirsson, GRÓ FTP Director, introduces the fellows. Nína Björk Jónsdóttir presents them with the certificate and Jónas Páll Jónasson delivers a graduation gift. Announcement of best poster award.

15:50 - 15:58 The fellows’ representative addresses the guests

15:58 - 16:00 Master of Ceremony invites guests to the reception and to view fellows’ poster exhibition

About the 27th cohort

The cohort includes 23 fellows from 15 countries -- in Latin America & the Caribbean, Africa, Asia & the Pacific. In addition, one special guest attended the Introduction part of the programme as a Special Guest. The biggest line of specialisation was the Fisheries Policy and Management line (8); then the Aquatic Resource Assessment and Monitoring line (6), the Sustainable Aquaculture line (5) and the Quality Management line (4). Since the programme started in 1998, a total of 535 fellows have completed the training programme in Iceland (including those who are graduating now).
