The agreement was signed by Þór Ásgeirsson, Director of GRÓ FTP, and Dr. Alexandra Leeper, CEO of the Iceland Ocean Cluster.

On 17 February, GRÓ Fisheries Training Programme (GRÓ FTP) and the Iceland Ocean Cluster signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation in innovation and sustainable use of marine resources.

The agreement was signed by Þór Ásgeirsson, Director of GRÓ FTP, and Dr. Alexandra Leeper, CEO of the Iceland Ocean Cluster.

The new cooperation will connect GRÓ FTP’s international network of fisheries professionals with the Ocean Cluster’s work on innovation, entrepreneurship, and full utilisation of marine resources. The Iceland Ocean Cluster works closely with startups, established companies, and global partners to accelerate new ideas in the fisheries sector. Their mission is to bring together entrepreneurs, businesses, and researchers to support innovation in the blue economy and to maximise value from marine resources.

Through the MoU, GRÓ FTP students and other affiliated groups will be able to visit the Ocean Cluster to learn about the 100% Fish approach and see practical examples of entrepreneurship and the process of turning seafood side streams into valuable products. GRÓ FTP will also share information on the initiative with its alumni network of more than 500 fisheries professionals around the world, encouraging them to explore similar opportunities in their own countries.

Both organisations share the goal of supporting responsible and sustainable use of marine resources.
