The GRÓ-FTP and the Marine and Freshwater Research Institute (MFRI) welcome Indian Ambassador for a visit on May 4, 2021.

The Ambassador of India to Iceland, honourable Mr. Armstrong Changsan, visited the headquarters of the MFRI at Fornubúðir 5 in Hafnafjörður. This visit was an opportunity for the Ambassador to introduce himself and learn about the ongoing work of the MFRI, the UNESCO GRÓ-FTP, and Icelandic fisheries science.

In addition to the Deputy Director of the UNESCO GRÓ-FTP, Mary Frances Davidson, the Ambassador met with MFRI Director Þorsteinn Sigurðsson, and the head of the Demersal Division, Guðmundor Þórðarsson.

The activities of the MFRI were introduced, as well as the role the organisation plays in providing scientific guidance and advice in the Icelandic fisheries management system. The UNESCO GRÓ-FTP presented its work and approach, and future potential cooperation with India was discussed.
