Welcome 27th cohort of fellows
Last week most of the fellows, invited for this year’s GRÓ FTP Six-month training, arrived in Iceland and were busy settling in and commencing their training.
As a support to help orientation a Gateway for fellows and lecturers has been set up on the GRÓ-FTP website.
The 2025-26 cohort includes 23 fellows from 15 countries -- in Latin America & the Caribbean, Africa, Asia and the Pacific.
The biggest line of specialisation is the Fisheries Policy and Management line (8); then comes the Aquatic Resource Assessment and Monitoring line (6), the Sustainable Aquaculture line (5) and the Quality Management line (4).
During the first 7 weeks of the training all the fellows live together in the GRÓ-house located in the country’s capital, Reykjavik.
Training, however, usually takes place at the Marine and Freshwater Research Institute, stationed in the small picturesque harbour of Hafnarfjörður.
