Sheep in the land of fire and ice

Sheep in the Land of Fire and Ice is a short massive open online course (MOOC) where you will learn about sheep grazing, management and land conservation in Iceland. The course discusses the sustainability of sheep grazing in Iceland and explores how history, socioeconomic factors and environmental conditions have shaped the management of grazing resources.

This course is available online for free on the edX platform and takes about 3 hours to complete. The teaching materials can be used by instructors for their classes, or independently by students or life-long learners. There are no pre-requisites for this course.

Sheep in the Land of Fire and Ice has been co-developed by LRT, the Agricultural University of Iceland, the University of Iceland, and the Soil Conservation Service of Iceland. A group of experts, including many lecturers and supervisors in LRT six-month training programme, teach in the course.

This course has been listed as one of the top 30 Class Central Best Online Courses of 2019, out of more than 2,400 courses released in 2019. The course has also been listed as one of the Best Online Courses of All-Times at Class Central!
