GRÓ LRT Alumna Esther Olufunmilayo David Featured in SER’s Members in Action

We are proud to share that Esther Olufunmilayo David, a 2023 graduate of the GRÓ Land Restoration Training Programme (GRÓ LRT), has been featured in the Society for Ecological Restoration’s (SER) Members in Action spotlight for November 2026.

Esther, an Environmental Resource Economist and Research Fellow at the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN), was recently elected to SER’s Board of Directors as the Student and Emerging Professionals Director for 2026–2028.

In the interview, Esther reflects on her professional journey, the importance of integrating ecological restoration with local livelihoods, and her commitment to creating opportunities for young restoration professionals, particularly in Africa. She emphasises the need to bridge the gap between research and practice, recognise local knowledge, and ensure that restoration efforts address both ecological and socioeconomic challenges.

Her achievements highlight the important contributions of GRÓ LRT alumni to the global restoration community. We warmly congratulate Esther on her new role and look forward to following her continued contributions to ecological restoration.
