Welcome 28th cohort of fellows

Most of the fellows invited to the 2026-27 GRÓ FTP's Six-Month Training have now arrived in Iceland and begun an exciting journey of learning and professional development.

The 28th cohort brings together 18 fellows from 10 countries across the Caribbean, Africa and Asia, creating a vibrant and diverse learning community.

The fellows come from a wide range of professional backgrounds and experiences, but they share a common goal, to strengthen sustainable utilisation of aquatic resources in their home countries.

This year's cohort is evenly distributed across the programme's three specialisation lines, with six fellows participating in each: Fisheries Policy and Management, Aquatic Resource Assessment and Monitoring, and Sustainable Aquaculture.

Over the past three days, the newly arrived fellows have been settling into life in Iceland, exploring the programme structure and taking part in introductory seminars designed to help them adapt to both their studies and their new surroundings.

The fellows now look forward to immersing themselves fully in the academic and professional training that lies ahead.
