The course was held from 27 May to 1 June 2013 at Nha Trang University Vietnam and addressed various problems facing Asian aquaculture. There were 51 participants from 17 countries. Organised in paratnership with the Network of Aquaculture Centres in Asia-Pacific (NACA), Nha Trang University Vietnam, Deakin Univeristy Australia and Holar University College Iceland.
Description
In this course one of the main problems of Asian aquaculture, that of good seed, was addressed.
The target group were extension workers, seed producers and researchers. Although genetics were an important part of the course, presentations and discussions covered all theoretical and practical aspects of broodstock management from sourcing broodstock to larval production and transportation of the latter to grow out farms. Case studies were problem-solving oriented focusing on participants’ working experiences.
The course was held at Nha Trang University from 27 May to 1 June. Other partners included the Network of Aquaculture Centres in Asia-Pacific (NACA) and Holar University College in Iceland. The course was intended to be a regional course, but it also attracted participants from the Pacific and Africa. There were 51 participants from 17 countries.
