Policy framework

GRÓ’s policy environment consists of three overlapping and interrelated policies. First, the framework set out by the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015. Second, Iceland´s Policy for International Development Cooperation 2024-2028, whose main principles are eradication of poverty, respect for human rights and improved living conditions. Third, UNESCO‘s multi-year Medium Term Strategy (C4), which sets out UNESCO’s strategic vision and programmatic framework, including the overarching and strategic programme objectives.

Furthermore, the SDGs provide a frame of reference for the work of the Centre, in particular gender equality (5), affordable and clean energy (7), life below water (14), life on land (15) and capacity building (17).
