GRÓ Governing Board


The GRÓ Governing Board is composed of six representatives. One representative, who is also the Chairperson, is appointed by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, one is appointed by the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture, one by the Director-General of UNESCO, one by the Icelandic National Commission for UNESCO and one representative is designated independently of the authorities by the Development Cooperation Committee. The Director General attends the meetings of the Governing Board as a non-voting member.

     - appointed by the Icelandic Development Cooperation Committee
  • Mr. Antonio De Sousa Abreu, Director of the Division of Ecological and Earth Sciences
     - appointed by the Director General of UNESCO
  • Ms. Halla Jónsdóttir
     - appointed by the Minister of Culture, Innovation and Higher Education
  • Ms. Sæunn Stefánsdóttir
     - appointed by the Icelandic National Commission for UNESCO
