Annual field excursion of UNU-LRT six-month training
In July and August, the 2012 UNU-LRT fellows participated in field excursions, which are essential part of the UNU-LRT six-month training course. In previous years this activity has included one-week excursion but this year it involved two 3-day trips.

UNU-FTP Visits Ghana and Nigeria
UNU-FTP director Tumi Tomasson and Assistant Director Thor Asgeirsson are currently visiting Ghana and Nigeria to meet with fisheries officials and interview potential candidates in those countries.

Two short courses held in Tanzania
The UNU-FTP, Matis and the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Development held two short courses on Quality Assurance and Processing in the Artisinal Pelagic fisheries in Tanzania for the district fisheries officers who support Beach Management Units which manage individual landing sites in Tanzania.

Course on Geothermal Technology
A 13 week customer-designed „Course on Geothermal Technology“, organized by the UNU-GTP in accordance to the requirements of Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen), was concluded in Naivasha, Kenya on Friday, July 13.
