Annual Visiting Lecturer at the UNU-GTP 2010
This year, the annual UNU Visiting Lecturer is Dr. Roland Horne, professor in reservoir engineering at Stanford University in California. One of the most renowned of geothermal specialists in the
world.
Roland Horne will give a series of lectures on "Reservoir engineering and well testing" from Monday the 30th of August to Friday the 3rd of September.

Short Course on Geothermal Drilling, Resource Development and Power Plants in El Salvador
United Nations University Geothermal Training Programme (UNU-GTP) in Iceland and La Geo S.A. de
C.V. (LaGeo) in El Salvador will be hosting a “Short Course on Geothermal Drilling, Resource Development and Power Plants”, to be held in El Salvador, 16.-22. January, 2011. The
course is tentatively planned as a one week course with lectures and exercises. Invitations for nomination of candidates will be sent out in early September. For preliminary information

UNU Fellows on the national news channel RUV
Wednesday the 14th of July the national news channel RUV broadcasted a news item on how Ystihver is made to erupt for the UNU-GTP annually by feeding the geyser 10 kg of brown soap. Thomas
Ongau Miyoro and Thecla Munanie Mutia, both from Kenya, were interviewed by the reporter on the experience.

UNU-GTP publicity in Iceland Review
A seven page article on the UNU Geothermal Training Programme with pictures taken by Pall Stefansson is to be found in the latest issue of the Magazine Iceland Review.
The magazine can be purchased in bookshops in Reykjavík but is also available on loan from libraries (including the library at Orkugardur).

Local news on UNU Fellows in reservoir engineering
Last week there was an article in the local newspaper in Hafnarfjordur on practical training carried out by the UNU Fellows in reservoir engineering. The local water supply permitted the UNU
Fellows to use a production well and pumps at Kaldarsel for various exercises. The teacher responsible for the group was Pall Jonsson from ISOR.
