The 2024 cohort of fellows have started their six-month training with GRÓ LRT at the Agricultural University of Iceland. The programme, which is running from 1st of March to 27th of August this year consists of 23 working professionals from nine countries in Africa and Asia, 9 women and 14 men.

The fellows are all experts in their respective countries working on issues related to ecosystem restoration and sustainable land management. The fellows come from GRÓ LRT’s partner organisations in Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Lesotho, Malawi, Uganda, Ghana and for the first time there are fellows coming from Kenya; from the National Drought Management Authority and Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation.

For the third year in a row, two of the fellows are experts from UNESCO´s Man and Biosphere (MAB) network: from the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria and Bia National Park (UNESCO Biosphere Reserve) in Ghana. The diverse group of fellows enables transnational knowledge sharing and learning within the classroom.

Since the establishment in 2007, 198 working professionals have graduated from the annual six-month training, coming from 72 collaborating institutions  across 14 countries.

The GRÓ LRT teams wishes the fellows all the best during their studies and stay in Iceland!
