We are pleased to share that two former fellows of GRÓ LRT have been awarded GRÓ LRT scholarships to pursue a master’s degree in Restoration Ecology at the Agricultural University of Iceland (AUI), beginning in August 2025.

Brendah Namara from Uganda, a GRÓ LRT fellow in 2023, and Dominic Awukuvie from Ghana, a fellow in 2024, have both been selected for this opportunity. Building on the knowledge and skills they developed during their time with GRÓ LRT, they will now join an international cohort of master’s students at AUI’s Hvanneyri Campus to deepen their theoretical and practical understanding of ecosystem restoration and sustainable land management. Their diverse experiences and perspectives will enrich the academic environment and contribute meaningfully to the field.

This scholarship initiative is part of the ongoing collaboration between GRÓ Centre, GRÓ LRT and the AUI, aimed at strengthening capacity in ecosystem restoration and sustainable land management in low- and middle-income countries.

We warmly congratulate Brendah and Dominic on this well-deserved achievement and look forward to welcoming them back to Iceland. We are excited to follow their academic progress and future contributions to sustainable land restoration in Uganda and Ghana.
