Short Bio

Emmanuel P. Pagneux is an Assistant Professor at the Agricultural University of Iceland where he teaches Geographic Information Science and Remote Sensing. Emmanuel is specialised in the assessment and management of natural hazard risks. He holds a PhD in Geography from the University of Iceland (2011) and a master’s degree in Natural Disaster Risk Management from Paul-Valéry Montpellier 3 University (2006). His research interests include notably modelling of flood and glaciovolcanic hazards, exposure and vulnerability assessments, risk governance and risk perception. Before joining AUI, Emmanuel worked as a flood research specialist at the Icelandic Meteorological Office (2008–2019) where he led several state-funded research projects that belong to Iceland flood & volcanic risks assessment programmes. He also participated in Nordic projects and networks on disaster risk reduction.
