Short Bio

Vigdís is a plant ecologist who has had her feet deep in wetlands since 2023. At Land and Forest Iceland, she is primarily involved in projects related to wetland monitoring, with a focus on greenhouse gas fluxes, vegetation and soil dynamics, and overall ecosystem health. She earned her M.Sc. in biology at the University of Iceland in 2022, where her thesis examined the role of a native willow species as an ecosystem engineer. After completing her B.Sc. in biology from the University of Iceland, Vigdís also worked from 2017 to 2023 as a research assistant in a joint project between the University of Iceland and Stockholm University, using geothermal areas in Iceland as natural warming gradients to study plant responses to warming under climate change.
