Hlynur Oskarsson

Short Bio

Hlynur Oskarsson is a Professor at the Agricultural University of Iceland, where he teaches courses in Ecology and related subjects. Hlynur holds a Ph.D. in Ecosystem Ecology from the University of Georgia (1998), a M.Sc. in Ecology from Rutgers University (1992) and a B.Sc. in Biology from the University of Iceland (1988). His research interests include landscape ecology, ecosystem carbon dynamics, and restoration of degraded ecosystems. In particular, Hlynur has worked extensively on wetland ecosystem with emphasis on the effects of wetland draining and restoration on ecosystem carbon dynamics. Hlynur has participated in a number of national and international research projects and networks and is currently a member of the Icelandic Climate Council, member of the Ministry of Environment’s Joint Committee on Arctic Affairs, and a board member of the Rif Research Station.
