Short Bio
Jonina S. Thorlaksdottir is, since January 2020, a Ph.D. student in environmental studies at the Agricultural University of Iceland. In her research, she is particularly interested in the role of stakeholder interaction and engagement within environmental management and ecological restoration. She holds a B.Sc. in Biology (2012) and an M.Sc. in Environment and Natural Resources (2015) from the University of Iceland. Her master’s thesis revolved around the effectiveness of land improvement measures and participatory processes within a quality management scheme for sheep farming in Iceland, based on farmers’ experiences, views and expectations. From 2015 to 2020 Jonina was the manager of Rif Field Station in Melrakkaslétta, Northeast Iceland. The station is intended to enhance and encourage ecological research and monitoring in the area. Through her work at Rif, Jonina participated in a number of tasks related to monitoring implementation, national and international research coordination, community outreach and environmental education.Education
