Abstract

The UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration is a global call to support and scale up the restoration of degraded ecosystems around the world. In support of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, the United Nations designated the period 2021-2030 as the Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. To achieve its objectives, one of the decade’s key strategies is to raise awareness among diverse audiences, particularly young people, and to connect and empower them to act for ecosystem restoration. Against this backdrop, higher education institutions have a responsibility to prepare and empower young people for a sustainable future. Therefore, this project presents a unique and engaging week-long activity designed to raise awareness of the Decade on Ecosystem Restoration among university students at UDS-Nyankpala, Ghana.
