Field trip to the southeast coast of Iceland

Over the last weekend, the GEST fellows travelled to the southeast coast of Iceland, enjoying the major sites Iceland’s countryside has to offer along the way including the Reynisfjara Black Beach, the Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss Waterfalls, and the Glacier Lagoon.

Final Seminar 2022

The semester at the 2022 Gender Equality Studies and Training programme (GRÓ GEST) is coming to an end. Throughout the term, the GRÓ GEST fellows have worked on a final assignment; research papers, research proposals and project proposals, all having to do with issues relevant to gender equality in their home countries. This coming Monday, 16 May, they will give presentations on the content of their final assignments in the Auditorium in Veröld (VHV-023), University of Iceland, from 8:55 am – 4:10 pm.

The GEST Fellows Invited to the Icelandic President's Residence

The GRÓ GEST 2022 cohort was invited to visit the Icelandic president, Guðni Th. Jóhannesson at Bessastaðir, the residence of the Icelandic president.
The award was presented by Achim Steiner, UNDP Administrator, to Þórdís Kolbrún Gylfadóttir Reykfjörð, Iceland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, during a ceremony in New York.

Iceland Awarded a Gold Certification under the UNDP Gender Equality Seal Programme

Iceland was the first donor country to be awarded a gold certification for its transformative gender equality efforts under the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Gender Equality Seal Programme.

GRÓ GEST Fellows Visit Konukot

Yesterday, fellows from the 2022 GEST cohort visited Konukot, an overnight shelter for homeless women in Reykjavík. The fellows were welcomed by Halldóra R. Guðmundsdóttir, Director of Konukot along with with team leader Helga Lind Mar, and Kristín Pálsdóttir, spokesperson for the Root, Association for Women's Welfare.
