GEST Fellows' Annual Field Visit

The 2023 GEST cohort travelled around the south of Iceland in mid-May. The field visit is annual; this year it was a combination of a celebratory field visit, as the fellows had completed all of GEST’s written assignments, and a study visit related to the module on Gender, Environment and Climate Change which was the last module in the academic programme.

GRÓ GEST Fellows Meet the President of Iceland

The 2023 GEST fellows were invited by the President of Iceland, Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, to his official residence yesterday. The President and Eliza Reid, the First Lady, gave the fellows a warm welcome, highlighting the importance of advancing gender equality.

Erasmus+ Collaborators Visited the GRÓ GEST Programme

GRÓ GEST had the honour to welcome representatives from three of its partner universities: Dr. Josephine Ahikire and Dr. Sarah Ssali from Makerere University, Uganda, Dr. Dalea Bean from the University of the West Indies, Jamaica, and Dr. Jennifer Skulte-Ouaiss from Lebanese American University in Beirut.

Seminar on Decolonisation of Higher Education: Perspectives from Postcolonial Contexts

On Thursday 13 April, GRÓ GEST and RIKK – Institute for Gender, Equality and Difference, at the University of Iceland, are hosting a seminar titled Decolonisation of Higher Education: Perspectives from Postcolonial Contexts. The seminar is a part of the research Decolon-Ice: Towards Decolonizing Curricula in Nordic Higher Education, led by Dr. Giti Chandra, Research Specialist at GEST and RIKK. Participants in the seminar come from GRÓ GEST’s various partner universities and their visit is supported by the Erasmus+ grant scheme.
