High Level Visit to GRÓ from Namibia

The GRÓ Centre for Capacity Development, Sustainability and Societal Change had the honour to welcome the Honorable Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of Namibia during the Minister‘s visit to Iceland. The Minister met fellows that are currently attending the GRÓ Land Restoration Training Programme. She encouraged them to put their knowledge to good use upon returning back home and praised the importance of their work for Africa and the world.

A total of 33 fellows from Namibia have graduated from three of the training Programmes that are run by GRÓ, 17 men and 16 women. Most of them have attended the Fisheries Training Programme, or 22, one of which who continued and finished a Masters degree on a scholarship from the FTP. Eight fellows have graduated from the Land Restoration Training Programme and three from the Gender Equality Studies and Training Programme.

The Minister and her delegation were welcomed upon arrival by Nína Björk Jónsdóttir, Director General of GRÓ, and dr. Sjöfn Vilhelmsdóttir, Director of the Land Restoration Training Programme. They were given a presentation of the work of GRÓ where representatives from all of the four training programmes of GRÓ participated.
