UNU-GEST chaired the side event ‘The Road to End Child Marriage in Africa’ during 62nd session of the Commission on the Status of Women
On March 15 this year, during the 62nd session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW 62), UNU-GEST chaired the side event ‘The Road to End Child Marriage in Africa’. The event was organized by UN Women Malawi and the governments of Malawi and Zambia with support from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Iceland and UNU-GEST.

Course in Mongolia on communicating knowledge for sustainable rangeland management under climate change
Mongolia has an unparalleled monitoring programme on rangeland health. A wealth of data is collected every year in a systematic way, at many sites throughout this vast country. The high-quality data collected provides opportunities to communicate and synthesize this knowledge, so that it can be translated into effective policy making for sustainable rangeland use.

United Nations University Geothermal Training Programme (UNU-GTP) in Iceland and LaGeo S.A. de C.V. in El Salvador will be hosting "Geothermal Reservoir Characterization: Well Logging, Well Testing and Chemical Analysis", to be held in El Salvador during 16-22 September, 2018.

Agreement between UNU-GEST and Birzeit University on Student and Faculty Exchange and Academic Cooperation
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Birzeit University and the UNU-GEST programme was signed. Its purpose is to encourage exchange of students for advanced studies and research and the transfer of academic credits. It also stipulates the exchange of faculty and staff members for teaching and/or research assignments. In addition, it sets forth collaboration on the organization of symposiums, workshops, conferences and academic meetings and joint research projects and publishing.

UNU-GEST supports advocates for the rights of disabled women in Uganda
UNU-GEST has received a grant from the Icelandic Gender Equality Fund to support candidates from Uganda who work towards supporting the rights of disabled women. Together with the National Union of Disabled Persons in Uganda, UNU-GEST invites nominations of candidates to attend the post-graduate diploma programme in international gender studies in Reykjavik, in spring semester 2019.
