Visit from Uganda – short course development

UNU-LRT will carry out a short course in Uganda in September this year with its Ugandan partner institutions, the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) and Makerere University. The short course will be on sustainable land management, land restoration and linkages with climate change. In mid-May, the Ugandan members of the curriculum development team visited Iceland to attend a working meeting with their counterparts from UNU-LRT, in order to develop the short course curriculum.

Class of 2017 graduates from the UNU-GEST diploma programme

The UNU-GEST celebrated the graduation of 18 fellows awarded a post-graduate diploma in international gender studies. The fellows come from 12 different countries and this year´s graduating class is the largest since the beginning of the programme. A total of 86 students have graduated from the UNU-GEST programme.

Class of 2017 UNU-GEST fellows present final assignments

The UNU-GEST programme and the class of 2017 fellows would like to extend an invite to an event where fellows will present their final assignments. The event takes place on Monday 22 May 2017 from 11:00 -16:00 in room 101 in Oddi, University of Iceland campus. The event is held in English and open to all.

UNU-FTP fellow Godfrey Kawooya Kubiriza from Uganda will defend his PhD thesis entitled “The effects of dietary lipid oxidation on farmed fish” on June 15, 2017 at the University of Iceland Main Building at 13:00.

UNU-FTP attends FAO conference dialogue on Blue Growth in Africa

May 3-5, 2017, the UNU-FTP participated in a conference dialogue on blue growth and economy: sharing experiences and perspectives for Africa. The conference was organized by the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations, the African Development Bank, and the Ministry of Economy and Employment of Cape Verde and was held in Mindelo, Cape Verde.
