Annual visiting lecturer at the UNU-GTP

This year, the annual UNU Visiting Lecturer is Wang Kun, Senior Engineer and Deputy Director of the Geothermal Management Department at Tianjin Bureau of Land, Resources and Real Estate Management (TBLRREM), Tinajin, China.

MSc defence by Clety Kwambai Bore

On Thursday July 24 2008 Clety Kwambai Bore defended his Msc thesis at the University of Iceland. Cety came to Iceland as a UNU-GTP Msc Fellow in 2006 and has been studying at the Faculty of Engineering under the supervision of Prof. Magnús Thór jónsson and Dr. Gudrún A Saevarsdóttir.

Emergency landing on Holtavoerduheidi

On the afternoon of June 30th a small private plane emergency landed on Holtavörduheidi as the UNU-GTP Fellows were headed north on the annual excursion to North Iceland. The plane landed due to complete motor stop for unknown reasons. UNU-GTP Fellows aided the pilot in moving the plane to secure grounds and provided a seat on the bus for the pasenger on the plane who was headed north to Blönduós.

Short course on Geothermal Project Management and Development

United Nations University Geothermal Training Programme (UNU-GTP) in Iceland, Kenya Electricity Generating Company, Ltd. (KenGen) and Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development – Department of Geological Survey and Mines (DGSM) will be hosting „Short Course on Geothermal Project Management and Development“ to be held on November 20-22, 2008, at the Imperial Botanical Beach Hotel, Entebbe, Uganda. The short course is scheduled prior and in connection to the ARGeo C-2 Conference to be held on November 24-28, 2008 in Entebbe. Announcement
