Short Course I on Geological Exploration of Geothermal Fields was aimed at geologists within EDA Renováveis S.A. which operates a geothermal power plant on Sao Miguel island of the Azores. The short course consisted of lectures on volcanology, plate tectonics, classification of rocks and alteration, structural geology and geothermal systems, gradient wells, borehole geology, mapping, hydrothermal alteration, geological hazards, and geological models. In addition to theoretical lectures, the short course consisted of practical exercises, discussions and two field trips designed to strengthen classroom coverage. The event was carried out by two lecturers during 10-20 September, 2014.
