Description

The UNU-GTP conducted a Short Course on Geothermal Project Management 12-21 September 2015 in Djibouti for selected employees of the Djiboutian Development Office for Geothermal Energy (ODDEG), the Ministry of Energy, Water and Natural Resources (MERN) and the Djibouti Center for Research Studies (CERD).  The short course was financed by the Icelandic International Development Agency (ICEIDA) as part of the Geothermal Exploration Project in East Africa and follows up on similar courses held in Ethiopia and Kenya earlier this year.  The course covered the basics of project management for geothermal projects in the context of the International Project Management Association (IPMA) competence baseline and was followed up by offering the participants the opportunity to undertake the IPMA D-level certification examination.  The short course consisted of lectures, group work, exercises and an examination, with simultaneous translation provided in French where needed.  It is attended by 18 participants from ODDEG, MERN and CERD.

Instruction was in the hands of Mrs. Carine Chatenay, marketing manager and civil engineer, Mr. Yngvi Gudmundsson, mechanical engineer, and Ms. Dóra Hjálmarsdóttir, HSE representative and electrical engineer, all at Verkís Consulting Engineers.
