Customer-Desinged course held 14 November 2011 - 3 March 2012

Description

Training in borehole started in Kenya in November 2011 at the request of the Geothermal Development Company (GDC), a state-owned company that conducts research on new geothermal areas on behalf of the Government. Extensive plans are in the works to further geothermal use in the country and therefore the need for training is great.

A sixty day training course was arranged which was split into two parts. The first part started in November 14, but the second one in February 2012 and lasted until March 3. The goal of the training course was to give the staff at GDC, who work in the field of Borehole Geology, training in lab research and field work and to give them a deeper understanding of the utilization of Borehole Geology in geothermal exploration/development, both in practical and theoretical terms, and its relation to other fields of Geology, Geochemistry and Geophysics.

There were only eight participants, which enabled the specialist from ISOR to spend ample time with each participant and to train them in the daily work of a borehole geologist.
