Training on Surface Exploration and Development of Conceptual Models held in Eritrea

The UNU-GTP conducted a 10 day training on Surface Exploration Studies for Geothermal Resources and Development of Conceptual Models in Asmara, Eritrea in cooperation with the Africa Geothermal Center of Excellence, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and the International Geothermal Association - Africa Regional Branch (IGA-ARB) at the request of the Icelandic Ministry for Foreign Affairs - International Development Cooperation for the state of Eritrea.

The short course was held from 8 to 17 April, covering topics on geothermal systems and resource exploration with special focus on East Africa, addressed through lectures, exercises and field work at the Mai Wuye geothermal field.  The short course was attended by 22 participants and teaching was in the hands of Eritrean experts as well as foreign experts from ÍSOR – IcelandGeoSurvey, UNEP, IGA-ARB and GDC of Kenya.
