Strengthening Geothermal Knowledge for the Energy Transition: Aura Elena Becerra Suarez, GRÓ GTP alumna
Aura Elena Becerra Suárez is a geological engineer from Colombia. She attended the GRÓ Geothermal Training Programme in 2024 and says the training programme had a big impact on her career. She works at an environmental agency serving the Boyacá region of Colombia where she focuses on the sustainable use of geothermal resources and their role in supporting energy transition in the country.

GRÓ Annual Report 2025 Published
The year 2025 was an active and productive one for GRÓ—Centre for Capacity Development, Sustainability and Societal Change, and the four training programmes in sustainable fisheries, gender equality, geothermal energy and land restoration.

GRÓ Governing Board 2026-2032 assumes office
A new GRÓ Governing Board has been appointed for the term 2026-2032. At a reception held last week to mark the changes in the governing board, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Iceland, Ms Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir, thanked the outgoing board for its work and welcomed the new board to the task.

GRÓ LRT: Capacity Development Delivers Results
The impact of the GRÓ Land Restoration Training Programme was the focus of the last and final event in the series “From Knowledge to Development Impact” on May 7. At the event, that took place at the National Museum of Iceland, GRÓ LRT fellows and alumni shared their experiences and insights on how capacity strengthening can drive progress in global development. In total, 240 fellows have graduated since 2007 when the Programme was launched.
