Graduation of Fellows 2013

The closing ceremony of the 35th annual session of the UNU-GTP was held on October 11, 2013, with a record number of 34 UNU graduates from the six month specialized courses. In addition, five received a fellowship after a six month training in borehole geology that took place in Kenya this year. This is the first time a fellowship is rewarded outside of Iceland.

Short Course for Decision Makers from Burundi, DRC and Rwanda

The UNU-GTP and the Icelandic International Development Agency (ICEIDA) held a short course on geothermal development for decision makers from Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Rwanda in cooperation with Kenya Electricity Generating Company and Geothermal Development Company at Lake Naivasha in Kenya from 25 - 28 September.

Annual Visiting Lecturer at the UNU-GTP 2013

This year, the annual UNU Visiting Lecturer was Dr. Kevin Brown, former associate professor of Geology and Geothermal Energy at the University of Auckland and present adjunct professor in the Geology Department at the University of Canterbury.
