Short Bio

Dr Stefánsson holds a BSc in Food Science from the University of Iceland (1981) and completed a PhD in Food Science from the University of Leeds, England (1986). He also has a Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Iceland (2001).

Dr. Stefánsson’s main research areas are on markets and new food product development. He is the project leader of a European Union Horizon 2020 research and innovation project, PrimeFish, on enhancing the economic sustainability of European fisheries and aquaculture sectors. Other research projects include product development and value addition of pelagic fish species, such as blue whiting and mackerel.
