Short Bio

Dr. Thordarson has a BSc in ecology from the University of Iceland in 1994 to 1997 and MSc in marine mammal ecology from the same university in 1998 to 2000.  He earned his PhD in fisheries biology from Imperial College, London UK in 2001 to 2005.  From 2005, Dr. Thordarson has been working on stock assessment at at the Marine Research Institute, and has participated extensively in ICES and chaired two assessment working groups.

Stock assessment, using length based methods for assessing data limited stocks.  Optimisation of sampling programs, both from commercial catches and scientific surveys. Life history theory.
